Our Planet II Soundtrack Global Release

OUR PLANET II premieres today on Netflix with original music by Jasha Klebe and Thomas Farnon.

Our Planet II is a bold new 4-part series narrated by Sir David Attenborough that follows billions of animals across the globe as they make astonishing seasonal migration journeys amid the dangers of climate change. It follows the phenomenal success of Our Planet which has over 570 million viewing hours to-date.

Chatting with the pair recently, the composers reveal they “set out to create a propulsive score that felt emotionally electrifying and portrayed the epic grandeur of a world on the move.” They crafted colourful soundscapes influenced by the animals’ motions such as deep synth and percussive rhythms capturing the thundering vibrations of herds of Pronghorns and sliding strings and ricocheting jawharps mimicking billions of locusts.

They explain how the show “never shies away from the impact of humans on the natural world, and to encapsulate this, we used solo vocals and choir prominently throughout the score."

The music was composed over 6 months and features over 200 musicians, 300+ different instruments, and 45 singers from across the world.

The series is produced by Huw Cordey with executive producers Alastair Fothergill and Keith Scholey for Silverback Films. Chromium Music Group are pleased to have provided Score Production Services.
