Expeditions: Rome wins Game of the Year at Spilprisen 2023

THQ Nordic and Logic Artists’ “Expeditions: Rome” has won the prestigious Game of the Year Award at Spilprisen 2023.

Chromium composer Thomas Farnon provided the music for the game that was released in January 2022 and received mostly positive reviews from critics who praised the game's strong gameplay and plot elements. Expeditions: Rome is a tactical role-playing game set in Ancient Rome; the player controls a young legatus who investigates the death of their father and travels throughout the Roman Republic as they expand Roman influence across the world.

The jury says: "An all around well crafted game and a top contender in all the categories it was nominated in: This year’s winner stands out with its quality across the board. Its attention to historical details, voice acting, sounds and music, story, systems, and puzzles makes for a beautifully crafted love letter to its genre - That not only managed to "suck in" in the part of the jury that wouldn't usually play Tactical-rpgs, but also be the game fans of the genre have been craving. A proud example of the kind of quality game the Danish industry can produce."

Spilprisen is a tribute to the best Danish-developed games. It is organised by The Danish Producers' Association, which is an industry organization for producers of film, television and games.

Expeditions: Rome is the third game in the Expeditions series, which includes Expeditions: Conquistador and Expeditions: Viking.
